World Of Mobile Phones And The Language Used
Many people can be put off going out to buy a new mobile phone because they are confused by all the terminology that is often used. The language associated with mobile phones seems to becoming more complex as mobile phones become more sophisticated. Here are just some of the most common mobile phone terms you are likely to hear.
- GSM stands for Global Systems for Mobile Communications. This system is by far the most popular one for mobile phone communications; you really can’t argue with 43 billion users worldwide.
- 1G, 2G, 3G, & 4G mobile phones. What is meant by the G with all these mobile phones is generation. The first phones that came out were considered 1G phones as in 1st generation and the ones that are out now are fourth generation phones. Fifth generation phones seem to be on the cards these days. The newer phones are able to handle a lot more data than any phones in the past.
- SIM Card. The word SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module and this is where all the information about the subscriber’s identity is stored. Each SIM card will contain a unique identity number as well as their passwords. You cannot use the phone properly without a SIM card.
- Bluetooth. Most phones come with an open wireless network known as Bluetooth and this lets them pass information to and from each other’s phone over a specific distance. Bluetooth is useful because it allows you to easily pass data between the phones.
- SMS is Short Messaging Services. When talking about SMS we are referring to how two phones can communicate with each other.
- When it comes to sending things such as photos, videos, music files or ringtones to each other it is done through MMS (multimedia messaging service).
- Many mobile phones now have GPS which refers to Global Positional Services. The reason for having this function is to ensure that our location can be found by using the mobile phone.
SD Cards can be found in countless products nowadays. 32gb Ultra SD cards happen to be a great example of this. One more that you could find on your travels is the R4i.
