A respected pioneer in web technology, creating the most popular search site in use today, Google stands at the forefront of companies pushing towards a future that is inextricably tied to the rapidly developing world of the Net.

With some of the most brilliant minds at work under their roof, the services coming from their ingenuity have fundamentally changed how we communicate with each other.  From Gmail to Google Wave, to competition that desperately plays “catch up,” evidence of this company’s forward-thinking innovation abounds.

One of their more fascinating services is Google Voice, a telecommunications marvel that extends users a singular phone number from Google, to which any calls to your real telephone – or, if you so choose, multiple phones will be transferred.

How it works :

* User creates ( assuming it’s not taken ) a new telephone number or selects one from a pool of numbers made available by Google.
* Once the Google Voice number has been selected, inbound calls to that number will be forwarded to the assigned phones.

As an example, take the following scenario as testament to the convenience afforded by Google Voice :

While in the kitchen fixing dinner, you’re awaiting a call from your brother about your sister-in-law’s pregnancy, knowing that she’s due any minute.  Your cell phone, which is your first method of communication, is upstairs.  Yet, your home is also outfitted with a land line, with one telephone located just a foot away from the kitchen counter.  Without knowing if you’re home or not, your brother excitedly dials your Google Voice number, leading to his call being forward to every phone assigned to it – including your land line.

With configuration requiring just some steps, use of this service is that easy, gathering our different modes of telecommunication under the umbrella of Google Voice.

Additional features include :

* Voicemail
* Call History
* Conference Calling
* Call Blocking
* Voice transcription ( translating your voice mail into texts )
* Call transitioning, which lets you migrate from one phone to next in the middle of a call.

Google now permits you to use your existing phone number with Google Voice, a feature that was only just announced.  Your present number can be employed together with a new Google Voice number.  To read more about this new feature, visit here

Sony Ericsson T610

The design of the Sony phones changed radically with the release of Sony Ericsson T610 in 2003. This mobile was among the first to include joystick navigation, a color screen, bluetooth technology and a built-in camera. It caught so well on the market that it made huge sales climbing up in the top of popularity for the mobiles in its generation. Still produced, Sony Ericsson T610 can only be purchased in one of the following colors: Abyss Blue, Volcanic Red and Aluminum Haze. The most common variant of this design is the aluminum color, which brought some complaints from customers who would have liked to enjoy something a bit more vivid or daring.

Even to this day, the most frequently sold color of Sony Ericsson T610 is Aluminum haze. Regardless of the color variation, the keypad is silvery in all phone designs. It has a built-in camera, polyphonic ring-tones, WAP Internet connection and some other functions that make a good phone out of it. Since the design and the technical features are somehow obsolete, you cannot expect built-in hands-free or speaker phone capabilities. In many opinions, Sony Ericsson T610 proves a pretty sophisticated phone despite the more modern alternatives. Besides the design variations between the American and the European models, the internal features are identical.

One major criticism for Sony Ericsson T610 is related to the unexpected turn on of the phone because of the joystick. This could lead not only to premature battery wear but also to some people listening to unwanted conversations. The camera is also pretty slow and the quality of the pictures is reduced. For the year when it was released, Sony Ericsson T610 was an innovation, but for our times, the phone is mediocre and obsolete.

Last but not least, Sony Ericsson T610 enables voice commands, and, it is not at all over-priced; plus, it has a pretty long life expectancy. Moreover, there are no useless features, since each and every available item within the phone system aims at making the usage an enjoyable experience. Consequently, in case you consider buying an older but viable phone model, we warmly recommend Sony Ericsson T610. However, before buying such a phone it is advisable to test it and see whether you are happy with what it has got to offer to the user.

Even at present, the most widely sold color of Sony Ericsson T610 is Aluminum haze. In all phone designs, the silvery keypad is a standard. The phone has an incorporated camera, it can use the WAP for Internet connections, it uses polyphonic ring tones and Java formats. Since the design and the technical features are somehow obsolete, this is not a phone that can combine a speaker or built-in hands-free capabilities. In many opinions, Sony Ericsson T610 remains a pretty sophisticated phone despite the more modern alternatives. Besides the design variations between the American and the European models, the internal features are identical.

One major criticism for Sony Ericsson T610 is related to the unexpected turn on of the phone because of the joystick. Unexpected dial outs and premature battery wear out will be the main consequences for such situations. The camera is also pretty slow and the quality of the pictures is reduced. If we are to judge the cell performance by the present day standards, Sony Ericsson T610 is definitely obsolete and mediocre, yet for the time when it was produced, expectations couldn’t have been higher.

Last but not least, Sony Ericsson T610 allows voice commands, and, it comes pretty cheap if we consider the main features and advantages it brings. Moreover, there are no useless features, since each and every available item within the phone system aims at making the usage an enjoyable experience. Consequently, in case you want to buy an older but good phone model, you can definitely go for Sony Ericsson T610 without being disappointed. Although advertised as a good product in itself, Sony Ericsson S500i has been too intensely promoted since its launch, even on the claim that it is inspired by nature. TThe producers insist a lot on the camera features included in the phone as this mobile can render very high quality snapshots taken at a good speed. By using USB technology, the user can afterwards connect the phone to the computer and transfer the photos. Sony Ericsson S500i comes with a kit especially created to facilitate photo transfers, music files download and any other types of files transferring to a computer if the owner wishes to do so.

The phone is stated to be very light and, according to specifications it weighs only 94 grams which makes it a nice call toy to own. It is also very thin and the screen promises high quality images judging buy the TFT technology and the numerous colors it can display (262.144). The Sony Ericsson S500i design is available in three color variants with inviting names: spring yellow, mysterious green, ice purple and contrasted copper. If we were to judge by the look, then we may identify some nature-inspiration to justify the commercials.

Unlike other models, Sony Ericsson S500i does not brag with a 16 MB memory but only with a 12 MB one. However it brings along one other advantage and that is the Memory Stick Micro™ (M2™) which allows for additional storage of up to 2 GB. There is also a good battery performance too, as recharges are pretty rare for moderate speakers. If the phone remains in standby mode, its battery may perform up to 370 hours. Consequently, from this perspective, Sony Ericsson S500i may appeal to people who travel a lot and need a long battery life.

Sony Ericsson S500i also offers modern and attractive features specific to advanced technology. The video streaming and viewing options, the 3D games, the camera, the media player and many other traits make Sony Ericsson S500i a good choice for buyers. The USB transfer of data is also possible which actually limits the use of the Bluetooth although this feature remains incorporated.

All in all, technology is advancing fast, and soon phones that will follow in the footsteps of Sony Ericsson S500i will perhaps provide users with the opportunity to enjoy communication and entertainment in ways that are more and more daring and appealing.

Which is the best Sony Ericsson phone to purchase? The choice of a cell phone is easy or difficult depending on how you see the various capabilities included in the majority of the newer designs. Literally speaking, buying a mobile phone has become a pretty challenging task with shoppers addressing specialists in order to be able to understand something from the hi-tech features incorporated in modern design. The ever changing standards of appreciation are perfectly reflected by the various Sony Ericsson phone models, but we should not forget the fact that the list of features makes the only viable criterion for mobile phone purchase.

In order to be able to determine which Sony Ericsson phone suits your needs, it is a good idea to compare not only features but also price categories as well. Thus, look into the technical details of items belonging to different price categories. You should look for camera and radio, WAP browser, GSM modem, bluetooth connectivity, USB PC connectivity, the size of the internal memory, the presence or lack of expandable external memory and so on. Moreover, the Sony Ericson phone should match private or business needs as well, because more capabilities are necessary for different work-related tasks.

The Sony Ericsson phone with an incorporated Walkman has brought a breath of fresh air on the market. This kind of devices are pretty accessible and besides their affordable nature, they also bring excellent music rendering quality. Many market sectors felt the impact of this innovation, but youngsters have made this Sony Ericsson phone design popular. The battery life is also important for the matter, because the music player or the radio can eat quite a lot of it. Moreover, a sometimes neglected aspect is the importance of being able to transfer data from the phone into a personal computer, and your Sony Ericsson phone needs to match such criteria.

The older Sony Ericsson phone models carried a standard media manager that has recently been replaced in the newer designs. All the phones produced by Sony Ericsson using the Java Platform 8 or A200 Platform include an XMB media manager that has been so far integrated in a very select group of mobile devices. Last but not least, the smart i-phones integrate Windows Mobile Operating Systems into the phone operational circuit.
