Interesting Features Of The HTC Aria

December 15th, 2010

Many tipsters and phone testers have been able to get some important information out to the public, even though the HTC Aria has not been released yet. AT&T expects to release this new smartphone to the public fairly soon. Like many HTC models before it, the Aria also has very impressive features.

One of the most noticeable features of HTC’s new device is its size. Ever since the creation of cell phones there has been a trend towards smaller cell phones, and the Aria certainly follows this trend. Reports tell us that this new smart phone is only about the size of a business card, of course it is thicker in width. Although some critics have described the Aria as bland, many buyers prefer to buy their phones based on functionality, not style.

Unfortunately, due to the small number of lucky testers, official specifications on the phone are scarce.  The HTC Aria will run on Google’s Android 2.1 platform, which is sure to draw in many buyers. Google’s Android 2.1 platform offers an array of fascinating, high tech features. Some of these features include: interactive screen backgrounds, voice typing for emails and text messages, an impressive 3D picture gallery, and several home screens.

The addition of more home screens will enable users to utilize more apps. The camera is capable of capturing five megapixel images. In comparison, the iPhone 3G only has a 2 megapixel camera. The user interface will be provided by the HTC Sense system. A micro USB port for data and file transfer will be included with the phone, along with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. In order to navigate through the phone’s menus, an optical joystick will be used.

As previously mentioned, the size of the phone is comparable to that of a business card. The small size will surely discourage many buyers from taking part in this great device. It is rumored that he Aria will have a full QWERTY keyboard, and on a phone as small as a business card, not many people will even be able to use the keyboard without struggling. The memory capacity of the Aria has also been criticized for not being sufficient. As HTC Aria chargers, HTC Aria cases, and other HTC Aria accessories are released into the market many of these problems will be fixed quite easily. The main display of the HTC Aria is also only 3.2 inches, and compared to many of the new phones on the market, this is not an impressive size. Despite the shortfalls, we are eagerly waiting the release.

Brief Review Of The HTC Aria

AT&T has launched their newest phone, the HTC Aria, which has the Android 2.1 operating system from Google. This amazing touch screen phone comes with a GPS, 5 megapixel camera, as well as Internet access by 3G connections! The HTC Aria phones are capable of being “unlocked” for use with other wireless carriers outside of AT&T.

HTC Aria reviews have been consistently good, if not great. This model has a lot of great features and has the ability to be customized using apps from Android, however any apps that are non-Android are blocked completely with this phone, much to the disappointment of users. Another concern from users is the lack of a flash with the camera function. Another problem for many users is the surprisingly small screen, which makes it difficult to type using the provided touch screen keyboard.

Still the majority of those asked for their opinion say they love that the phone is so much smaller. Most smartphones are fairly bulky, yet still fragile at the same time; however, the HTC Aria is a smaller, yet sturdier smartphone that is ideal for those who like to keep their phone in a jeans pocket. Just being able to have alternative options to the iPhone through AT&T was the biggest plus for the reviewers. Problems common to the iPhone have been a concern, so having a new option is a benefit to smart phone users.

The features and button included in this model have received no complaints from users or reviewers. Just below the screen there is a well-plotted selection of quick-use buttons for home, menu and arrow buttons for navigation, and there have been positive comments about plug location.

Aside from the before mentioned drawbacks, the HTC Aria is a good smartphone, a big step up from basic wireless phone options, without having to invest a lot of money in an iPhone. Of course like most phones, bright sunlight can create screen glare and pocket calls are still a high possibility.

In addition, you’ll only have AT&T service available with the HTC Aria. However, there are a few methods available to unlock the HTC Aria for use with another carrier. Free unlocking codes are available by calling your own cell phone service provider. Your carrier will need to get the IMEI code from your HTC Aria in order to do this for you. You will be able to give your cell service the required code number by typing *#06# which will bring it up on your phone’s screen.

If for some reason your cell phone provider cannot provide an unlock service, check the internet for a variety of unlock solutions that include unlocking the HTC Aria.

In addition to writing about cell phone news, Stewart Prabond is a writer who covers all topics relating to the wireless industry. Some of his reviews is covers unlocked cell phones.

One of the biggest advantages that Droid has over the iPhone is the wide range of phone models available. AT&T hasn’t exactly been ahead of the game in terms of its adoption of the Droid, but it has lengthened its admittedly thin. The Aria is not the most powerful Droid phone on the market, but it’s not supposed to be. The Aria is a little more portable than other smartphones, so if you’re looking for HTC Aria Cases, you’ll need a smallish one. It’s compact and lightweight; at only four ounces, it fits easily into a pocket. While other smartphones seem to be getting bigger and bigger, the Aria is only 4.1 inches by 2.3 inches, and it’s only half an inch thick. The Aria forgoes HTC’s 1GHz Snapdragon processor in favor of a more streamlined 600MHz one, but it still performs admirably.

At 3.2 inches, the Aria’s screen might be a little bit smaller than what’s available on some of the beefier smartphones. The resolution is 320 by 480 HVGA. And altough it might not be the sharpest looking screen, it surprisingly good for a small sized phone. But you’re going to stick this phone in your pocket, I suggest you think about HTC Aria Screen Protectors to keep it looking good. By default, the screen shows a regularly updated time and weather report. But even when the touchscreen’s small size feels uncomfortable, you can always rotate the Aria so it give provide you with a more roomier landscape keyboard.

Navigation is made simple by having the four touch-sensitive button on the bottom of the display. The four standard buttons: home,  back, menu and search. There’s no trackball to fall out or get clogged up with dirt; the Aria also marks HTC’s switch to an optical pad. There’s lots of room for HTC Aria accessories, including a 3.5 mm headphone jack on top and a micro-USB port on the bottom for updates, charging, and loading data. There is a 5 megapixel camera on the back, but unfortunately there is no flash or dedicated camera button. The Aria also has a SIM card slot and a microSD slot, but you’ll have to take the battery cover off to get to them. You have to access it through the menu. It may look challenging at first glance with the visible screws on the back, you don’t have to remove them. They don’t attach the outer cover, and it can easily be removed.

This phone uses HTC’s Sense skin, as well as the new 2.1 version of the Android. This skin manages to be attractive without swamping the system with too many processes. The latest version of Sense also comes with HTC’s Leap software, which makes multitasking a breeze. The HTC Aria also comes loaded with Friend Stream for the Facebook junkies of the world. It may be an unnecessary feature for some, but this app lets users view status updates, pictures and more in one place. It supports Twitter, Flickr, Facebook and others.

The Aria also comes with a few other useful apps, and the Droid App Store offers hundreds more options. It has Google Maps and GPS, so you won’t get lost.
