Things Worsening Between Apple And Google

These days we’ve been listening a lot about Apple-Google rivalry. The biggest among the news is the replacement of Google search engine by Bing (Microsoft). If this happens, quite a lot in the web industry may change. That aside, there’s some issue between Google and Apple about patent rights.

I didn’t know this until I saw this little post on iphonehelp referring to the touch screen problem between Apple and Google. I had believed it had been search engine that was resulting in the whole problem, but, no, there’s more to only one problem.

Apple a while ago had asked Google of keeping touch screen out of Nexus One. One would wonder why Apple doesn’t file a lawsuit rather than sending out requests to Google to not incorporate touch screen element in its first mobile phone attempt. The fact is Apple has no alternative other than requesting- the patent rights of touch screen aren’t quite strong. So even if Apple files a case against a manufacturer, there are good chances that Apple will lose it.

There has already been great amount of conflict between Apple and Google – remember the latest one on Google Voice on iPhone? Apple had restrictedthis app to be used on iPhone. (Read the complete story here: GV Mobile Out on Cydia Gets Google Voice on iPhone) The problems between the two big wigs are clearly seen even if they deny accepting it.

This time it is a bit hard to anticipate anything as the two greatest tech corporations are involved in it. Prior to now they have also had troubles around Chrome OS. And now some legal issues over touch screen application.  Let’s see what the outcome would be like. Surely not a positive one (with Google in the mobile phone market, things will only worsen.)
