Numerous Facebook Cell Phone Gossips After Denials
You may have surfed the Web Sunday. If you did, then additionally you probably noticed about the gossips of a Facebook phone. Facebook responded. This reaction came with denial. The 500,000 Facebook members that would assist a Facebook cell phone would make it seem possible that Facebook could be interested in a Smartphone to rival Apple’s iPhone and Android Phones. The Nexus One did not go really far, besides Google’s domination. Microsoft had a worse fate. Its Kin was worse off. Facebook has looked into getting a Facebook phone though it declines creating the phone. Some think that the Facebook phone would die off fairly easily since it wouldn’t be needed by numerous. Some say Facebook shouldn’t even look into getting its own development platform until its applications can really work on all of the Smartphone’s.
Facebook phone forecast
There was one place the Facebook phone story began. That place was TechCrunch. Michael Arrington wrote that Facebook is doing what Apple does with the iPhone. It is working secretly with a 3rd party manufacturer to develop software for a phone. Arrington thinks the reason a developer left the Google Chrome project in June was to work on the phone for Facebook. He thinks that a cell phone for Facebook would call a friend’s name rather than a number and would be really affordable.
Alarm was fake, claims Facebook
The Facebook phone could be the latest rumor about the company’s intentions that comes to nothing. Facebook claims it has no interest in pursuing the production of Smartphone’s. It just wants to integrate with more Smartphone’s. CNN reports that Facebook is well-known for leaking ideas, but the business either scraps them outright or pursues an entirely different tangent. In 2008 rumors arose about a Facebook music service to compete with MySpace Music, however no such service has yet emerged. An additional competitor idea that never happened was “Facebook Wallet.” Facebook was expected to compete against PayPal. Facebook made an announcement about that earlier this year. It will be working with EBay’s PayPal to create a new service called Facebook Credits.
Facebook isn’t the competition
John C. Abell at Wired thinks there would be no purpose for a Facebook cell phone. “The tail wagging the dog” is what Abell claims the concept of a Facebook cell phone is. A Facebook phone isn’t something that people would want over their original phones. These individuals want their Androids and iPhone still. Developing Facebook applications is what Robert Scobe at Business Insider thinks Facebook should do. He mentions deficiencies for instance better support for contacts, photos and video. He also said Facebook’s main platform is lacking compared to other services. Even after the company’s explosive growth, the only advantage the Facebook platform has over others is 500,000 users.
